Public Leathercraft Workshops
Our Public Leathercraft Workshops are four-week courses that run every month on Thursday evenings from 7pm – 9:30pm. Alternatively there is a One-Day Intensive held on a Sunday each month. These hands-on workshops cater to those with little or no experience as we cover various ways to work with different types of leather using traditional and modern techniques.
It's also open to those who have had some experience with leather in the past and wish to expand on their skills and explore some of the more modern techniques used.
Learn new skills.
A wide variety of knowledge and techniques include:
~ An understanding of the various types and qualities of leather
~ Designing and pattern-making
~ Tool usage
~ How to carve, tool and mould leather
~ Hand stitching
~ Plaiting and Braiding
~ Edge bevelling and burnishing
~ Colouring using dyes and acrylics
~ Finishing applications
~ Sourcing supplies
Plus we will touch on various alternative methods used to enhance leather goods such as:
~ Tie-dying leather
A hands-on experience of the techniques used for working with leather. Exploring a variety of projects and creating your design.
Working on your own project with guidance.
Finishing your project and follow on advice.
Make something meaningful.
During your personal projects, you can make a variety of items such as: Belts; bags; pouches; phone covers; book covers; plant-hangers; fashion accessories, and much much more.
All tools, equipment and materials will be supplied by the tutor. (Larger projects may incur additional costs for materials)
After four weeks, you will leave with the knowledge, skills and confidence to carry on with your own projects at home. Classes are held in a comfortable indoor environment in Doncaster Victoria. Places are limited so book now to secure your place.
